Justice Jayne Jagot appointed to High Court

Federal Court Judge, Jayne Jagot, has been appointed to the High Court of Australia to replace Justice Patrick Keane following his retirement.

Justice Jagot will join the Court on October 17. The appointment will see a majority of female judges on the High Court for the first time in history.

Justice Jagot has served on the ACT Supreme Court as well as the Federal Court and was previously a partner at Mallesons Stephen Jacques (now King&Wood Mallesons)

Justice Jagot has demonstrated an interest in competition law and has adjudicated in a number of significant cases (including Colgate-Palmolive, Cascade Coal and NSW Ports). Justice Jagot delivered the Bannerman Competition Lecture in 2018 and has twice spoken at the Annual Competition Law and Economics Workshop in Adelaide.
